Seven weeks ago my brother, a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, completed his year long deployment in Afghanistan. Our family was so grateful and relieved to have him return home safe and sound. But some soldier’s and their families, weren’t as fortunate.
Memorial Day, celebrated on the last Monday of May, is a day in which we salute and honor those who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. As an American, and a family member with multiple soldiers in my family, including my Uncle Joe (an Army Ranger), and my Uncle John (who served in the navy), I am extremely appreciative for the sacrifices that they made. But, I can’t imagine what it would feel like to lose a family member to war. Unfortunately, for many, this happens all too often.
As many people will be celebrating Memorial Day with cook-outs, pool parties and bargain shopping, I hope we can set aside a few moments to remember those who gave their all for our safety, our freedom and our country. We salute you…

Amen
Let’s not forget Great Grandpa O’Neill who served in WWII.
O cool! Didn’t know that…thanks for the family history lesson :)
